We know that Black Friday is synonymous with spending money. So we thought to share some ways you can make your dollar go further, and we aren't talking about coupons for that new PS5.

Between Amazon Smile, our Esplanade House giving tree, and Giving Tuesday, you have several options on how to give to your fellow community members as well as your friends and family.

Amazon Smile

By switching to Amazon Smile, you are supporting all of our programs. That means you are helping a family break the cycle of poverty at our Esplanade House. You are also helping get food to those who are hungry through our North State Food Bank. You might even keep a house warm this winter as we support our community members who find themselves in need. For directions on how to set up your Amazon Smile account CLICK HERE.

By shopping on AmazonSmile you can donate to a good cause while doing your normal or holiday shopping, just by choosing the Community Action Agency of Butte County, Inc. as your charity. When you make a purchase, Amazon Smile donates 0.5% of what you’ve spent to Butte CAA. How cool is it that you can donate without spending any extra!?

Esplanade House Giving Tree

This Christmas you can make a child's wish come true. Our Esplanade House will have giving trees set up at various physical locations and online with tags bearing the name of a child as well as ideas for gifts. Just pick a tag off the tree and return the wrapped present with the child's name on the tag.

More details on where to pick up a tag coming soon! Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram channels and make sure you are subscribed to our blogs and newsletters so you don't miss a thing.

Many of these children have had hard times, and live with modest means. Their parents, like all parents, want the best for their kids. However when you are struggling with poverty and rebuilding your life, there isn't much money left for extras, like gifts. Love and support are the most important gifts, and being with family in a safe and secure place is what matters most. But what if YOU could give them something extra? Something unexpected? That might make the difference between a good Christmas and a great one.

In this season of giving, with so many families in Butte County in need, it's hard to know where to start. We assure you that helping a child experience the magic of Christmas is always a good investment.

Giving Tuesday

It's the day the world collectively chooses generosity and gratitude and gives back to causes it thinks are important. Join the world wide day of giving and help those in your community.

All donations to Butte CAA will make an impact. You can donate online through our PayPal Giving Funds or by check mailed to Community Action Agency of Butte County, Inc.

#GivingTuesday turns the focus away from what you can GET this holiday season, and instead focuses on what you can GIVE. This global movement aims to transform how people think about and participate in the giving season.

The number of people struggling with food and housing insecurity in Butte County is higher than ever due to the Camp Fire, Bear Fire, and COVID-19 pandemic. But this year, our efforts to fulfill our mission to help people and change lives is needed now more than ever.

What does donating to Butte CAA look like?

It looks like a family in safe and secure housing working to improve their lives at our Esplanade House. It looks like more seniors, families and even students who participate in our food distribution efforts. It looks like working with people to help their income go a bit farther through our efforts to help with their tax preparation, to make their homes more energy efficient or to keep their housing.

Make a difference by giving what you can, and do it on Giving Tuesday via Facebook or PayPal.

So this Black Friday, we hope you think about all we have been through this year and choose to give back in a small way however you can. Whether that be with us at the Butte CAA or another charitable organization. We hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday Season.
