Thank You VITA Volunteers!

VITA Volunteer training The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program has been a huge success so far this year and we are still offering this free tax filing assistance through April 4th! This important program would not be possible without the community volunteers who lend their time and expertise to this worthy cause. We want to say THANK YOU to all the volunteers for their hours of training and hard work.

Filing taxes can be a burden on community members. It's a complicated process that can require guidance to make sure you are filing correctly and not missing out on tax credits you should be receiving. Not everyone has the financial skills it takes to get the most out of filing their taxes, but professional help usually comes with a high price tag. That's what makes VITA so special. Qualifying community members can get expert help for free.

Jeri and Carson- VITA leads CAA

Butte County Volunteers Make it Possible

There has been a long-standing partnership between CAA and the Business Department at Chico State to help implement the VITA program in Butte County. Each year a group of student volunteers gets trained and certified by the IRS on tax filing assistance. This coordination between Chico State and CAA helps VITA thrive. Special thanks goes out to Jeri and Carson, the student leads from Chico State. Jeri and Carson help with training and administering the program. Your hard work, positivity and leadership are essential to the success of the VITA program.

Although the Chico State Business Department makes up a large segment of the volunteers, we also want to recognize other community volunteers who have contributed greatly to the VITA program. Retired tax professionals Marge Redding and Gordon Sandy from Durham, have been volunteering their time for over 30 years! What an amazing commitment to the community, thank you both so much.
