February is the month of hearts. We see hearts everywhere. We celebrate those we love with flowers, balloons and cards with hearts. We are focused on the gift of those we care for and love in our lives. What if there was a way to share that love beyond our friends and family to the entire community?
Here at Community Action Agency’s North State Food Bank, we received a donation that warmed our hearts and got us thinking a bit. The donation letter said the following:
Dear North State Food Bank,
We are enclosing our check for $50.00 as a contribution in honor of our daughter.
She does not need nor want any more "things," and she asked that we give this donation to you as our Christmas gift to her, just as we did last Christmas.
Please send an acknowledgment to her: (and they provided her information)
Thank you for your assistance in honoring our daughter in this manner.
What a great way to spread the love and acknowledge that many of us have more than we need, while others don’t have the basics covered. We were very happy to send the acknowledgement of the gift to this precious couple’s daughter.
Valentine’s Day has passed, but maybe you still feel the love in the air? Consider thinking outside the box (of chocolate, or valentine cards, or jewelry) and show your love for the community by donating to the North State Food Bank on behalf of a friend or loved one.
Yes! I want to donate a gift of caring this month and feed families in need.
Your gratefully received contributions to the North State Food Bank are tax-deductible as allowed by the IRS. Tax ID#94-1640546.
