We all have our own ways of contributing. Some of our supporters are fortunate enough to have the financial means to donate money to community causes. However, that's just not the case for everyone. Other people contribute by donating their time as volunteers to one of our many programs. We rely on their support to make each program a success. Again, however, some of us might have work schedules that make us less available or keep us out of town frequently. So what other options are there for supporting your favorite charities? Well, an unconventional idea came from...eBay.
Yep, that's right, a program called eBay for Charity works in partnership with Paypal Giving Fund to benefit the charity of your choice! So how does it work? If you have unwanted items that have some value, you can list them on eBay and choose to donate anywhere from 10% - 100% of the proceeds to your selected charity. When the item sells and the payment is fully processed by Paypal (approximately 21 days) the specified percentage will be transferred to the charity that you selected.
Choose Your Favorite Charity When Listing on eBay
Listing with eBay for Charity is almost identical to a standard eBay seller listing. You just have the added step of selecting "Donate a portion to Charity" in the listing process. Here is the full eBay for Charity Help & FAQ page, we have also outlined the extra step the donate to charity below.
In the listing flow, select the option to “Donate a portion to Charity”
Select a charity* from the list of options or search for a different charity
Select the percentage you would like to donate to charity
You can verify the charity and donation percentage on your item by checking the information included in the item description
3 Donation Options to Choose From at Butte CAA
Most of us have stuff that we don't want or need, but it may have some resale value. With a few clicks you can list it on your eBay account and help your favorite charity in the process. If you want to help Butte CAA by donating the profits from your eBay listing, we have 3 great options to choose from:
North State Food Bank
The North State Food Bank (NSFB) collects & distributes food throughout the region encompassing Butte (including the CAMP FIRE survivors), Glenn, Colusa, Plumas, Sierra & Tehama counties. The NSFB helps low income families get the food & nutrition they need each month.
Since 1991, the Esplanade House has provided a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for homeless families while implementing a goal-oriented program designed to help homeless parents and children successfully move from crisis to self-sufficiency.
Butte CAA General Fund
Butte County CAA's mission is to provide hope to people struggling with poverty to help them become more self-sustaining. We do this by meeting the tangible needs people have in the areas of affordable food, energy savings, & housing.
We are excited to say that people are already using the eBay for Charity option! So far, the North State Food Bank is in the lead with 10 listings, but there's plenty of time for the other programs to catch up. This is a new and innovative fundraising endeavor for us and we can't thank eBay and Paypal enough for informing us about this unique opportunity to raise funds for our vital community programs. We hope you'll consider getting involved, it's an easy way to benefit your community.
