Creative Easter for the Esplanade House

Wednesday, Apr 15, 2020

Every year, the Easter Bunny visits the Community Action Agency's Esplanade House to bring holiday joy to its residents. However, this year he needed even more creativity on account of COVID-19.

He enlisted the help of generous volunteers to make this year's Easter celebrations happen and we are happy to report that Easter was still a huge success!

Chico's Enterprise Record reported on a few local organizations facilitating festivities while respecting social distancing:

Those kids weren’t the only ones to experience a resurrection of Easter tradition. Children served by The Esplanade House feared the Easter Bunny would not show up this year because of the Butte CAA team delivering basketspandemic.

Their fears were far removed when they received 80 Easter baskets full of goodies.

The donations came from an anonymous woman who has been acting as the Easter Bunny with a little band of friends for the past 20 years.

“It’s from her heart because she feels the children deserve to have Easter,” said Dianna Bradley, program specialist of The Esplanade House.

Newborns to teenagers received baskets full of items appropriate for them. Babies received items such as rattles, kids received bubbles and teenagers gift cards. And, of course, the baskets had Easter eggs filled with candy.

In past years, the mysterious donor has donated up to 120 Easter baskets.

“She’s been so faithful,” said Thomas Tenorio, CEO of The Esplanade House. “She makes it worth waiting for.”

Thank You

We feel incredibly blessed and grateful for the support of our community in this time. A sincere thank you to all of the donors and volunteers who brought a smile to the CAA Esplanade House this year.

Our Esplanade House provides more than just a roof over families' heads. It provides support via goal oriented programs designed to educate and empower once-homeless families to self sufficiency, specifically families with children.

It's our mission to break the cycle of homelessness and see families thrive! And we (as well as the Easter Bunny) cannot accomplish our mission without the help of generous volunteers and donors.
